Found in Canggu, this artwork happens to be the front wall of a must-see open air bar “Old Man’s” by Batu Bolong Beach. The entire place is aesthetic, so it only makes sense that the exterior would showcase the inner beauty.

An “unofficial” tourist attraction, mastermind Lucas Grogan commissioned the artwork around the space, giving it a beachy and welcoming vibe that begs walker-bys to take a photo AND stay for a drink.

The wall can be interpreted as gesturing to stereotypical “old men,” with quotes decoratively on the wall saying things like “ok ok ok babe,” “it’s bigger than it looks,” and “back in my day.” In itself, this Situationist derivé playfully makes fun of the building name with clichés of men in bright coloring to make these phrases look “pretty” rather than the “manly” stereotype they may hold. In this particular situation, it portrays the name of the bar as in fact not somewhere just for “old men” but for anyone who enjoys a nice aesthetic, great drinks, and a good time.
